Produced by powerhouse group AFTR PRTY (Rezt, Billi X, Scope, and OT Still In Here), Sol Ties, the debut EP from Maryland singer-songwriter Projex Santana, explores his redefinition of modern R&B through eclectic, hip-hop infused nostalgia, shaped by the inspiration of Black love. The 11-track body of work is the taste of a new era for Projex, one that celebrates his organic rise to notoriety and stardom, giving listeners an experience they’ve yet to encounter from a talent of this generation. Along for the ride are fellow collaborators and friends—rapper Chris Allen, soul songstress Chella, and DMV area favorites Ciscero, 3OhBlack and Big Flock. Sol Ties continues the sonic experience that Santana first introduced to audiences when he stepped on the scene in 2018, only this time, there’s more depth and devotion. Sol Ties centers mostly on purpose and passion. “Father God, I just want you to bless the listeners," he says on opening track “Ceilings," "I hope that this tape edifies their mind, their body, their spirit, and their soul.” In under 38 minutes, Projex restores the feelgood vibe of R&B with catchy cadences and bass-thumping beats, opting for more mid-tempo moments than bland ballads. Showcasing a more upbeat perspective on R&B, the 31-year-old is hoping to breathe life back into the genre.
